What's the secret to Denmark's happy work-life balance?

The Nordic nation doesn't require staff to work long hours and has a generous welfare system.
Denmark consistently ranks among the top five countries globally for work-life balance, with only 1.1% of its population working over 50 hours per week. This is significantly lower than the global average of 10.2%. A key factor contributing to Denmark's success is the high level of trust between employees and employers. Gabriel Hoces, a Danish tech firm employee, attributes this trust to the country's work culture, saying that bosses don't micromanage or expect long working hours. Instead, they focus on project completion. Meik Wiking, author of "The Art of Danish Living," agrees, stating that Danes are happy at work and nearly 60% would continue working even if financially independent. Wiking highlights several policies that contribute to Denmark's strong work-life balance:
* A minimum of five weeks' paid annual leave
* Six months of paid maternity and paternity leave
* Flexible working hours These policies, combined with a high level of trust between employees and employers, create an environment where employees feel empowered and valued.
