The Somerset cider-maker wins an appeal after claiming Aldi had copied its packaging and taste.
A court has ruled in favor of Thatchers, a Somerset-based cider producer, in its long-running trademark dispute with Aldi over the supermarket chain's Taurus drink. The Court of Appeal has determined that Aldi infringed on Thatchers' trademark by using similar packaging imagery for its own product, which was released in 2022. The judge found that Aldi intended to capitalize on the reputation of Thatchers' Cloudy Lemon Cider by making it seem like a cheaper alternative. This decision is being appealed by Aldi.
