Stellantis chairman details planned U.S. investments for Jeep, Ram to Trump

Stellantis' chairman detailed several plans for U.S. investments when meeting with President Donald Trump before his Monday inauguration.

* Stellantis Chairman John Elkann has announced several new investment plans for the US market, including: + Creating 1,500 jobs in the US + Reopening a plant in Illinois to build a new midsize pickup truck in 2027 + Building a new version of the Dodge Durango SUV at a Detroit plant instead of Mexico + Adding more support for plants in Toledo, Ohio, and Kokomo, Indiana
* The plans are aimed at strengthening Stellantis' US manufacturing footprint and providing stability for its American workforce.
* The announcements were made after Elkann met with President Donald Trump during a trip to Washington, D.C. prior to the inauguration.
* General Motors and Ford Motor have also spoken or met with Trump about the US automotive industry and economy.
* The United Auto Workers (UAW) union has hailed the announced plans as a victory for workers and a testament to their power in holding corporations accountable.
* Stellantis' investments will include additional technologies and products for Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator, as well as production of a new four-cylinder engine in Indiana.
