Reddit groups ban X links in protest at Musk arm gesture

Moderators of groups with millions of users say the block is a result of the billionaire's on-stage gesture.
More than 100 Reddit communities have banned links to X, the platform owned by Elon Musk, after he made a gesture similar to a Nazi salute at a Donald Trump rally. The moderators of these communities, which include some of the largest ones on the site with over 10 million members each, have deemed Mr. Musk's actions "hateful" and refused to allow users to share links to X content. Among those who have banned X posts are subreddits for basketball, football, video games, and other sports teams, as well as communities focused on entertainment and international interests. The bans are likely to reduce traffic and revenue for X, which relies heavily on community moderation to decide what is allowed on the platform. It's worth noting that while some Reddit communities have refused to institute a ban, saying they don't want to engage in censorship. Some of the affected subreddits include:
* r/NBA (15 million members)
* r/TwoXChromosomes (14 million members)
* r/NFL (12 million members) Many other subreddits with smaller membership numbers have also banned X links, and there are discussions about a potential blacklisting.
