An American Airlines regional jet collided with a helicopter near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
The collision occurred when American Eagle Flight 5342, a PSA Airlines Bombardier CRJ700 regional jetliner, was approaching the airport's Runway 33.
The flight had 60 passengers and 4 crew members on board, all of whom are safe.
At least one aircraft is in the Potomac River.
Emergency responders were present at the scene and the FAA has closed the airport until at least 5 a.m. ET Thursday.
A U.S. Army helicopter was involved in the collision and was out on a training flight, according to officials.
The incident is being investigated by the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board.
