Apple iPhone sales dip despite AI rollout

The company's signature phone has been updated with artificial intelligence, but sales are down.

* Apple's iPhone sales dropped 1% in the last quarter of the year, reaching $69.1bn (£55bn)
* The company's introduction of new AI features was met with a lukewarm response
* Tim Cook said that while the features were driving stronger sales in countries where they were available, such as the US, overall sales were down compared to last year
* Apple is facing challenges including a decline in iPhone sales in China and potential tariffs on imports from China
* The company's AI features have been criticized for making mistakes in news summaries, leading to the suspension of one feature
* Despite this, Apple reported record number of purchases of new iPhones by customers who already own older models
* Overall sales rose 4% to $124.3bn and profits rose 7% year-on-year to $36.3bn
