Barclays customers hit by third day of payment issues

Since Friday there have been problems with bank's app, online banking and payments and transfers.
Barclays customers are facing issues with payments and transactions for a third consecutive day due to ongoing technical problems. The bank has struggled to fix the issue, which began on Friday when customers reported difficulties with mobile and online banking, as well as making essential payments. The number of complaints increased sharply over the weekend, with nearly 5,000 issues reported on Saturday alone. Barclays' website warned that customers may face problems making and receiving payments, and their balances may be incorrect. Some customers have been unable to make payments to HMRC, including those submitting self-assessments for tax returns. HMRC has assured affected individuals that they will not face late payment penalties due to the Barclays outage. Barclays has apologized for the inconvenience and promised to ensure that no customers are left out of pocket. The bank advised customers facing difficulties accessing their money to seek support from friends and family or contact food banks. Several customers have shared their personal stories of struggling with the outage, including one single mother who was unable to move into her new house and is currently staying on a friend's sofa. Barclays has stated that it is working hard to fix the issue and will keep its call centers open for longer over the weekend. However, the bank's website remains affected, and customers are still experiencing problems with online banking, the app, and payments in and out of accounts.
