Chinese fashion giant Shein re-enters India five years after ban

Shein's re-entry to the Indian market comes with strict terms, which include saving all data within the country.

* Chinese fast fashion app Shein has relaunched in India after a five-year ban, under a deal with Indian firm Reliance Retail.
* The deal involves a long-term licensing agreement where Shein will sell products manufactured and sourced in India on its platform.
* To comply with India's data security concerns, all customer and application data will be stored within the country, and Shein will have no access rights.
* Shein's re-entry into the Indian market comes with strict terms, including saving all data within India, as per a statement by India's Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal in December.
* The app was launched on Friday night and has already been downloaded by over 10,000 people.
* Initially, Shein is offering delivery services only in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru but plans to expand across India soon.
* Experts say that this deal marks a shift in Reliance Retail's strategy, which previously focused on selling international brands through its flagship Ajio online retailer.
