The supermarket says the rise will benefit about 28,000 employees as it becomes the latest chain to lift wages.
* Lidl is giving a pay rise to around 28,000 employees ahead of the minimum wage increase in April
* The entry-level hourly wage will rise from £12.40 to £12.75 and can reach up to £13.65 with length of service
* In London, new starters will earn at least £14.00 per hour, rising to £14.35 over time
* This puts Lidl's pay rates above those announced by Sainsbury's (up to £12.60) and Aldi (£12.71)
* The minimum wage is increasing from £11.44 to £12.21 in April, but retailers have warned of job losses, higher prices, and store closures due to the change and a rise in employers' NICs
* Some retailers, including Sainsbury's, are cutting jobs as a result of the changes
