The resignations add further to uncertainty at the CFPB, which has been targeted by trade groups and conservatives for years.
* Lorelei Salas, supervision director for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), resigned due to Acting Director Russell Vought's instruction to cease all work. She stated she couldn't continue in her role as it's "not appropriate nor lawful" to stop supervisory activities.
* Eric Halperin, enforcement director at CFPB, also announced his resignation. He said he can no longer serve in his role effectively due to the agency's instructions from Vought, and added that protecting American consumers is his priority.
Both Salas and Halperin had been placed on administrative leave prior to their resignations, according to a statement from the Office of Management and Budget.
