Fri, 14 Feb 2025 TikTok returns to Apple and Google app stores in the US

TikTok is again available on app stores in the US after President Donald Trump delayed a ban on the app.
TikTok has returned to Apple and Google app stores in the US after President Donald Trump extended a ban deadline until April 5. The decision follows an agreement between Trump's administration, Apple, and Google that they would not be held liable for allowing downloads if the ban isn't enforced yet. TikTok will comply with a law banning it from the US unless sold to a neutral party. The Biden administration had argued that TikTok could be used by China for spying and political manipulation, but China and TikTok have repeatedly denied these accusations. Trump initially supported banning the app, but appeared to change his stance last year during the presidential campaign. After the app's brief disappearance from US stores, it sent a message to its users thanking Trump by name. TikTok's CEO met with Trump after his electoral victory in November.
