The iPhone giant's $500bn investment plan includes a new factory in Texas, as well as money spent on suppliers.

* Apple plans to invest over $500 billion in the US over the next four years, with a new factory in Texas expected to create 20,000 jobs
* The investment will support American manufacturing and include spending on suppliers, software, and AI research
* The new factory in Houston, Texas, will produce servers for Apple's AI system and create "thousands" of jobs
* Apple is also expanding its data centers in several states and doubling its support for a fund dedicated to US manufacturing
* The announcement comes after Apple boss Tim Cook met with President Donald Trump, who has made increased corporate investment in the US a priority
* Analysts say the move is a "strategic" one to diversify Apple's manufacturing operations while also playing into Trump's US investment theme
