Tue, 04 Mar 2025 Pizza boosts Greggs but sausage roll still king

The bakery chain has grown its revenue and profits by moving away from its traditional roots.

* Greggs' revenue exceeded £2 billion last year, with sales increases in pizzas, chicken goujons, and potato wedges.
* The sausage roll remains the company's top-selling item.
* Evening sales increased as the company expanded into train and bus stations.
* Pre-tax profit reached £204 million, an 8.3% increase from the previous year.
* The company added 145 new shops last year, with a focus on alternative locations such as petrol forecourts and transport hubs.
* Almost half of Greggs' shops are now located outside of traditional High Street areas.
* Sales from delivery websites increased, and one in five customers uses the company's app.
* Despite a forecasted difficult trading period due to cost-of-living concerns, analysts say Greggs remains in a strong position.
