Thu, 06 Mar 2025 Home buyers race to beat stamp duty rise

Thresholds will change on 1 April, leaving buyers a few weeks to complete or pay more in stamp duty.

* Thresholds for stamp duty relief will revert to previous levels
* Buyers of homes worth £250,000 or more will pay stamp duty, affecting around 32% of areas where the average first-time buyer home falls into this category (up from 8.4%)
* Some buyers may face higher bills due to changing thresholds
