Some Canadian provinces have removed US-made alcohol from shelves in response to US tariffs.
Canadian provinces, including Ontario and Nova Scotia, have removed US-made alcoholic drinks from store shelves in response to US tariffs on Canadian goods.
Brown-Forman CEO Lawson Whiting called the move "disproportionate" and said it would be worse than tariffs because it completely removes their products from shelves.
The move was taken by several provinces, including Ontario, which sells nearly $1 billion worth of US-made alcohol per year.
According to Whiting, Canada accounts for only 1% of Brown-Forman's total sales, making the impact manageable for the company.
Meanwhile, Canadians are being advised to buy products made in Canada and some have already started switching to local goods due to Trump's tariffs.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau criticized the US tariffs, calling it a "dumb thing to do" and accusing Trump of trying to collapse the Canadian economy to make annexation easier.
Whiting also mentioned that his company would be monitoring the impact on its sales in Mexico, which accounts for 7% of Brown-Forman's total sales.
