* Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) has agreed to buy Niantic's gaming division, including Pokémon Go, for $3.5bn (£2.7bn).
* The deal will see Niantic's games, including Monster Hunter Now and Pikmin Bloom, become part of Scopely Inc, a major player in mobile gaming.
* This acquisition marks the latest step by Saudi Arabia to develop its gaming industry, which has invested billions in recent years.
* Pokémon Go remains one of the world's highest-grossing mobile games, with 30 million monthly players and is jointly owned by Nintendo, Game Freak and Creatures.
* Niantic's team will remain responsible for creating and evolving the game under Saudi Arabian ownership.
