Thu, 13 Mar 2025 'Huawei lobbyists' held in Belgium raids over EU corruption

The prosecutor's office said it raided 21 addresses in Belgium, according to local media.
Belgian authorities have launched a major corruption probe into alleged wrongdoing within the European Parliament, with raids conducted on multiple locations in Belgium and one address in Portugal. Prosecutors claim that several people have been detained for questioning over their involvement in bribery and other corrupt activities, reportedly disguised as commercial lobbying. The investigation is focused on Huawei's activities in Brussels since 2021, with Belgian police searching offices inside the European Parliament at the request of a judge. Huawei has denied any wrongdoing and claims to have a "zero-tolerance policy" towards corruption.
