Sir Jim Ratcliffe's Ineos Automotive will replace the door latch mechanisms in more than 7,000 SUVs.
* Ineos Automotive has recalled over 7,000 SUVs in the US due to a problem with latches that may not engage properly.
* The recall affects Grenadier SUVs produced between July 6, 2023 and April 19, 2024.
* The issue is caused by a lack of grease in the door button mechanism, which can lead to doors opening while driving and increase the risk of injury to passengers.
* Ineos will replace all door button assemblies on affected vehicles free of charge.
* This is not the first issue faced by Ineos Automotive, which had to pause manufacturing last year due to a parts supplier becoming insolvent.
* The company's Grenadier SUVs are inspired by the Land Rover Defender and have been sold in 50 countries around the world.
* Ineos lost over £1.1 billion before tax in 2023.
