These plans are more geared towards making budgetary numbers add up than fundamental welfare reform.
* The cuts aim to reduce spending by over £5bn a year, with around a million claimants set to lose thousands of pounds from November 2026.
* Personal Independence Payments (Pip) recipients will need to score at least four on one item in their daily life questionnaire to qualify for support, rather than being able to claim with less severe difficulties across multiple areas.
* The changes are expected to save money but have been criticized as taking welfare away from people who genuinely need it.
