Charities and childcare centres say they are being hit by the tax increase but cannot raise prices.

The NIC increases will cost Acorn Day Nursery £35,000 more per year, while charity Brainwave faces an additional £72,000 in annual costs, which it says is unsustainable. Charities and nurseries argue that the government should provide support for employers who are affected by the NIC increase. A Treasury spokesperson said that private companies contracted by the government will not receive specific support for NIC increases, but charities and public sector employers may be eligible for relief.
