The business secretary says he wants to reach an economic deal but would take "necessary steps' if talks failed.

* UK government launches consultation with businesses on potential tariff measures against US
* Consultation aims to gather views on products that could be included in a UK tariff response, to last 4 weeks until May 1st 2025
* Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds says talks are ongoing with the US government to secure an economic deal to avoid or reduce tariffs
* UK reserves right to take action if deal is not secured, and will pause consultation if agreement is reached
* Tariffs of 10% on all UK imports have been imposed by the US
* Some Conservative MPs criticize Labour's Brexit stance, while Liberal Democrat deputy leader Daisy Cooper calls for an "economic coalition" against tariffs.
