Sat, 05 Apr 2025 Trump extends deadline to keep TikTok running in US

The president has granted the app a second 75-day extension to comply with a law that requires it to either sell its US assets or face a ban.
A deal between ByteDance and the US government is still being worked out, despite talks reportedly falling apart earlier this week due to Trump's announcement of new tariffs on China. ByteDance has said it is in discussions with the Trump administration but no agreement has been reached yet. The company stated that any agreement would need approval under Chinese law. Several potential buyers for TikTok have emerged, including Amazon, Microsoft and private equity firm Blackstone. Trump has expressed his desire to keep TikTok running in the US, writing on Truth Social "We do not want TikTok to 'go dark'".
