Wed, 09 Apr 2025 Councils offer grants to help with living costs

More than 400 households have successfully applied, with £150 going directly into their accounts.
Over 400 households in West Sussex have received £150 cash grants to help with living costs, thanks to a scheme by Adur & Worthing Councils. The councils identified households claiming Housing Benefit or Council Tax Support and living in energy-efficient properties through "innovative database technology". The money comes from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and was paid directly into bank accounts last week. The councils said they are targeting support to vulnerable residents, with more than 600 households receiving letters offering the grant. Councillors praised the use of data technology to identify those in need of help, saying it would be used again to signpost residents to schemes that improve energy efficiency and reduce bills.
