Sat, 19 Apr 2025 Council details £4m cost of living support

Rotherham Council says the funding will offer "peace of mind" for parents.

* Supermarket vouchers for children eligible for free school meals: £2,687,000 + £15 per week for 13 weeks during school holidays (up to and including Easter 2026)
* Top-up local council tax support: £950,000 + Reduced bills for over 14,000 low-income households
* Energy crisis support scheme: £500,000 + One-off £250 energy grants for over 2,000 households
* Support for young care leavers: £90,000 + Costs of food and energy assistance
* Food hampers and distribution via local groups: £60,000
* Household essentials distribution (via food banks, social supermarkets, community programmes): £100,000
