A Halifax charity says it has fitted carpets to more than 400 homes to help struggling families.
* Over 1.2 million homes in the UK have no carpet or flooring in their bedrooms and living areas.
* More than 760,000 people living without flooring are in social housing.
* The lack of flooring is causing injuries, with at least one child hospitalized due to splinters in their toes.
* Patients are being left stuck in hospital because their homes do not have adequate flooring, with three cases reported by the Noah's Ark Centre.
* A survey found that 70% of people living without flooring are struggling with mental health issues and feelings of shame and embarrassment.
* The cost of living crisis has exacerbated the issue, making it difficult for people to afford flooring even when they need it most.
* Landlords have been criticized for not replacing flooring in homes after tenants move out, leaving families to live with cold, sharp, and hard floors that can be hazardous to young children and those with disabilities.
