The forecast fall in the cost of energy would reverse three consecutive increases in the price cap.
Ofgem's price cap forecast to decrease by £166 per year in July, reversing three consecutive increases. This represents an almost 9% drop for households using a typical amount of gas and electricity. Analysts at Cornwall Insight predict the typical annual bill will fall from £1,849 to £1,683 for dual-fuel customers paying by direct debit. The price cap covers around 22 million households in England, Wales, and Scotland, and is set every three months.
