Wed, 30 Apr 2025 Armagh healthy ready meal firm enters liquidation

The healthy food company's products have disappeared from the shelves of some of NI's biggest supermarkets.
The liquidator, Lisa Lappin from Baker Tilly Mooney Moore, stated that Karri Kitchen was unable to meet rising production costs and broader economic pressures. The business had net debts of almost £700,000 when it stopped trading, including £200,000 owed to a County Armagh food company and £183,000 loaned by one of its directors. The closure of Karri Kitchen will be a significant blow to the Craigavon area, where the business was based. Alliance Party assembly member for Upper Bann Eoin Tennyson stated that homegrown businesses like Karri Kitchen are essential to local communities, creating jobs and supporting supply chains. Karri Kitchen's demise highlights the challenges faced by food manufacturers in Northern Ireland, including elevated energy costs, new employment costs, and low profit margins. The business was unable to overcome these pressures despite having a distinctive brand and being one of NI's biggest ready meal businesses.
