The British designer brand - famed for its distinctive check pattern - has proposed cutting its global workforce by a fifth.
* Burberry plans to cut up to 1,700 jobs by 2027 as part of a cost-cutting plan.
* The job losses would reduce its global workforce by almost a fifth and include redundancies at its Castleford factory in West Yorkshire.
* Chief executive Joshua Schulman said most job losses would come from head office teams around the world, but confirmed that night shifts at the Castleford factory would be scrapped.
* Staff rotas will be reorganised to align with peak store traffic.
* Savings will also come from operating expenses, procurement and real estate efficiency.
* The company aims to create combined annualised savings of £100m by Spring 2027.
* Burberry reported a £66m loss in the last financial year.
* The brand is struggling due to weaker demand for luxury goods amid a difficult macroeconomic backdrop.
