Thu, 15 May 2025 Jaguar says it has no plans to build cars in the US

The comment came after the company's boss refused to rule out opening production plants in America.
Jaguar Land Rover has confirmed it does not plan to produce vehicles in the US due to President Trump's tariffs impacting the motor industry. The company had previously paused shipments to the country and resumed exports this month. The UK-based carmaker is among several companies that have held back on providing profit forecasts due to uncertainty caused by Trump's trade policies. A 10% tariff on all goods exported from the UK to the US remains in place, although some exceptions have been made for steel, aluminium, and certain British cars. Other major automakers, including Mercedes-Benz and Stellantis, have also delayed releasing forecast figures, while Ford estimates it will incur around $1.5 billion in costs due to US tariffs this year. Several other well-known companies, such as Intel, Skechers, Procter & Gamble, Adidas, and Mattel, have also been impacted by the tariffs, with some reducing or withdrawing their profit forecasts. Meanwhile, the UK government has stated that there are no restrictions on Chinese investment in its tariff deal with the US.
