The lobby group calls for travel restrictions to be eased and less red tape between the UK and EU.
UK business group CBI calls for major overhaul of EU-UK relations, saying current setup "no longer fits purpose" due to rising global threats and economic uncertainty. Group wants both sides to take joint action on energy, climate, and defense, as well as ease travel restrictions and cut red tape.
Key proposals include:
* Restoration of recognition of professional qualifications
* Reintroduction of youth mobility schemes for young people to live and work in both regions
* Easier staff transfers across borders
CBI report reflects views of over 400 UK companies and is aligned with EU business lobby BusinessEurope. Report highlights concerns about new trade rules and carbon taxes in Northern Ireland, which could cost businesses up to £200m a year.
Rain Newton-Smith, CBI director-general, says "the world has moved on" and the UK-EU relationship must adapt for growth, resilience, and global competitiveness.
