Wed, 21 May 2025 National parking platform seeks to end 'hassle' of multiple parking apps

The frustration of having to download multiple apps to pay for parking may go if a new platform is widely adopted.

* The government has introduced a "one app fits all" approach to paying for parking, aimed at simplifying payments and reducing the need for multiple apps.
* Motorists will be able to use any large parking app to pay in participating car parks, rather than downloading separate apps for each location.
* The National Parking Platform (NPP) has been handed over to an industry body, which will expand it across the UK - but only for car parks and app providers that opt in.
* Over 500,000 transactions were made during a trial period involving 10 local authorities in England, with more onboarding imminently.
* The BPA, which represents the parking sector, has taken over the running of the scheme from the government and says it will not lead to higher prices for drivers.
