Peter Holden says he repeatedly told the firm of the error but they kept pursuing him.
A man from Worcestershire, Peter Holden, has been sent over £6,000 worth of energy bills by Octopus Energy over almost four years for a gas meter that doesn't belong to him. The company admitted that the error was due to an industry data mistake and staff had acknowledged that Mr Holden was not liable for the debt. However, despite repeated attempts to notify them of the error, Octopus continued to send bills to Mr Holden's address, with debt collectors even visiting his home on three occasions. The company's commercial director apologised personally to Mr Holden after being contacted by the BBC and promised further training for staff to prevent similar mistakes in the future.
