Tue, 27 May 2025 Second suspect arrested in alleged crypto torture scheme

Police say the two men kidnapped an Italian businessman and tortured him with a gun, chainsaw and electrical wires for nearly three weeks.
Two men have been arrested in connection with the alleged kidnapping and torture of an Italian tourist in a Manhattan home, where he was allegedly forced to reveal his Bitcoin wallet password. The victim, 28, said he was held captive for nearly three weeks, during which time he was subjected to physical abuse and psychological intimidation. His attackers used electrical wires to shock him and even tried to use a chainsaw on him, according to police. The suspects, William Duplessie, 32, and John Woeltz, 37, are accused of kidnapping with intent to collect ransom, assault, and unlawful imprisonment. A woman who was also arrested in connection with the case has been released due to lack of evidence.
