Thu, 29 May 2025 Free yoga sessions held for people in north Devon

A community group in north Devon is hoping to get people active and improve their mental well-being.
250 members have joined the Community Yoga Project since it started offering free classes earlier this year. The group's founder, Hannah Shackleton, aims to remove financial and societal barriers to practicing yoga, particularly during the cost-of-living crisis. Yoga teachers emphasize breaking stereotypes by focusing on community and shared experience rather than competition. The project relies on donations and funding to pay teachers while keeping the sessions free for members. Founder hopes to expand the program to other areas in north Devon, including smaller towns like Torrington and Holsworthy.
