Tue, 03 Jun 2025 'Apprehensive' over future in Guernsey

A study by the Guernsey Community Foundation finds young people are being driven away by high costs.
According to a new study by the Guernsey Community Foundation (GCF), young people do not see a future for themselves on the island due to increasing living costs. The report is based on previously published data and a survey of 3,000 islanders. The average rental property in Guernsey costs £2,037 per month, with renters paying 50% more than five years ago. Many young people are planning to leave the island once they finish their education, with some already making plans to move to the UK.
