Wed, 04 Jun 2025 Baby bank needs to raise £60,000 for new premises

The charity is moving to a new site so it can help more families in need with essential supplies.
Leeds Baby Bank, a charity that provides essential supplies for families with babies and children, needs £60,000 to kit out its new premises. The charity has found a larger and more accessible home in Armley but requires funds to pay for flooring, signage, and shelving. The charity currently serves over 200 families in need of help, forcing them to temporarily close their waiting list due to high demand. Founder Chantal Nogbu states that the reality is stark: 40,000 children in Leeds live in absolute poverty. Leeds Baby Bank aims to re-open its waiting list mid-July and plans to host groups such as toddler sessions and baby first aid classes at the new premises. The charity hopes the move will enable them to support more families while becoming a supportive hub and meeting place. The new building's drive-up loading bay is expected to improve access for larger items, making it easier for families to collect essential supplies. Amy Asher, Community Development Manager, describes the new premises as a "game changer" that will allow the charity to function properly and provide better services.
