Baby Basics is holding its first boutique sale this weekend to turn donated items into cash.
A Northamptonshire charity, Baby Basics, which provides essential items for vulnerable babies and their families, is now supporting one in 16 children born in its county. The charity's founder expressed concern over a 51% increase in referrals over the last two years, attributing it to rising living costs and reduced benefits for some families. Volunteers fill Moses baskets with essentials such as nappies, clothes, toiletries, and blankets, but also need to hold sales of donated items that cannot be handed out due to safety or suitability reasons. The charity is hosting its first boutique sale this weekend to raise funds from these unsuitable items. Baby Basics expects to support around 500 babies this year, highlighting the growing need for such services.
