The ROG Xbox Ally will use Game Pass on-the-go - meaning subscribers start off with hundreds of games.
* The ROG Xbox Ally, a handheld console developed by Microsoft in partnership with Asus, has been announced.
* It will allow gamers to access their Game Pass subscription library on-the-go and comes in two versions: the base ROG Xbox Ally and the more powerful ROG Xbox Ally X.
* Both devices have a 7-inch screen with 1080p resolution, but the "X" version has double the storage (1TB) and a bigger battery compared to the base model.
* The handheld consoles will run on Windows, allowing gamers to access games outside of the Xbox app, including Steam and EA Play.
* However, they are heavier than other handheld gaming devices, weighing in at 670g for the base version and 715g for the "X" version.
* Microsoft has not announced a price for the ROG Xbox Ally or ROG Xbox Ally X, but it is expected to be more expensive than the Switch 2 (£395) or Steam Deck (£349-£569).
* The handheld consoles will launch at the end of 2025 and are likely to appeal to Xbox's 34 million subscribers who want to play their games on-the-go.
* Microsoft also announced several new games coming to Game Pass, including Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4, Ninja Gaiden 4, and Outer Worlds 2.
