The company will forge more than 337,000 tonnes of track in a deal safeguarding its future for the next five years.
Network Rail has awarded British Steel a five-year contract worth £500m to supply train tracks, which could secure thousands of jobs at the Scunthorpe steelworks. The deal provides guaranteed work for the plant for at least the next five years and represents the company's continued importance to the UK's economy and infrastructure. British Steel will produce more than 337,000 tonnes of track for Network Rail, with the contract beginning on July 1st.
