Tue, 17 Jun 2025 Trump signs order confirming parts of UK-US tariff deal

The pact between the US and UK means tariffs will be reduced on certain goods such as cars entering the US.

* US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order reducing tariffs on UK cars imported to the US, as part of a deal agreed last month.
* The 10% levy on most UK goods, including cars, will be reduced from 25%.
* A separate tariff agreement for steel imports was not addressed in the pact.
* The deal will come into effect seven days after its official publication.
* Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer called the move a "very important day" for both countries and described it as a "sign of strength".
* UK car manufacturers can now resume deliveries to the US, according to Mike Hawes, chief executive of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
* The deal includes quotas on US beef exports to the UK and ethanol imports.
* Business and Trade Secretary Jonathan Reynolds said the announcement was the result of "work happening at pace between both governments" to lower the burden on UK businesses.
