Fri, 04 Jul 2025 What are my rights if my flight is cancelled or delayed?

We look at the different circumstances that affect you if you're due a refund for cancelled or delayed flights.

* If your flight is cancelled, you can get a refund or be booked on an alternative flight
* You can get a full cost refund for any part of the ticket not used
* Airlines must provide meals and accommodation if necessary
* They must also find you an alternative flight at no extra cost
* Additional losses (e.g. unused accommodation) may need to be claimed from a credit card provider or travel insurance company
* Your airline is responsible for providing assistance, including food, drink, and accommodation, if your flight is cancelled or delayed
* You are entitled to compensation if the cancellation was due to circumstances within the airline's control (e.g. technical issues, crew shortage)
* The amount of compensation depends on the distance of travel and how much notice you were given
* If you booked a package holiday with an ABTA member company, you may be eligible for a full refund or alternative flight
