Nine years since Brexit: what's it like to trade with the EU?
Manufacturers are finding it difficult to access components from Europe, while food producers are struggling to comply with new labeling regulations. The cost of shipping goods between the UK and EU has also skyrocketed.
Small businesses are particularly affected, as they often don't have the resources or expertise to deal with the new complexities. Many are choosing to stockpile goods or abandon exports altogether.
Some companies have reported delays of up to six months in getting their products from Europe to customers in the UK. This is due in part to the need for customs declarations and the increased paperwork required.
The lack of clarity on post-Brexit rules has led some businesses to take a wait-and-see approach, while others are opting for diversification strategies to reduce their reliance on EU trade.
