The founder of the social media giant said one of the sites would cover an area nearly the size of Manhattan.
* Meta's founder Mark Zuckerberg has announced plans to build huge AI data centers in the US, with a focus on developing "superintelligence" technology.
* The company will invest hundreds of billions of dollars in building multiple multi-gigawatt clusters, including Prometheus (59.1 sq km/22.8 sq miles) and Hyperion (5 gigawatts).
* The first cluster, Prometheus, is expected to come online in 2026, while Hyperion is expected to be fully online by 2030.
* Meta's investment in AI has been ongoing, with the company generating over $160bn in revenue in 2024.
