Tue, 15 Jul 2025 Nvidia says it will restart AI chip sales to China

The move would reverse a US ban on sales of the high-end chip to the world's second largest economy.
Nvidia will resume sales of its high-end AI chips to China. US government has granted licenses needed for exports. Restrictions imposed by Trump administration in April over military concerns were reversed. H20 chip was developed specifically for Chinese market after export restrictions were imposed in 2023. Trade tensions between US and China have eased with temporary truce on tariffs war. China relaxed trade controls on rare earth exports, while US lifted restrictions on chip design software firms operating in China. Nvidia's CEO met Trump to reaffirm commitment to creating jobs and leading in AI worldwide. Company also discussed AI advancements with Chinese government and industry officials. Nvidia became the first company to reach a market value of $4tn last week.
