Under the new plan, the US will sell weapons to Nato countries who will send them to Ukraine.
US President Donald Trump threatened Russia with severe tariffs in a bid to bring an end to the war in Ukraine. The move aims to hobble Moscow's economy by targeting its ability to sell oil and gas.
Tariffs worth billions of dollars will be "quickly distributed" to support Ukraine, but neither US President nor Nato chief Mark Rutte elaborated on the weaponry that would be sent to Kyiv.
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky said he spoke with Trump after meeting with Rutte and thanked him for his willingness to support Ukraine and continue working together to stop killings.
