The free trade deal is expected to cut tariffs on goods and increase market access for both countries.
* Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has signed a free trade deal with UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.
* The agreement will boost the British economy by £4.8bn per year, creating over 2,200 new jobs in the UK.
* Average tariffs for UK exports to India will drop from 15% to 3%, making it easier for British companies to sell goods in India.
* Whisky tariffs for exports to India have been slashed in half, from 150% to 75%, and will eventually drop to 40% by 2035.
* The deal also commits to closer collaboration on defence, education, climate, technology, and innovation between the two countries.
* There is an extended exemption on national insurance contributions for Indian companies temporarily transferring staff to the UK.
* Opponents have warned that the deal could undercut British workers due to cheaper labour from India.
