Tue, 29 Jul 2025 Anglian Water to pay £62.8m over wastewater failures

The firm agrees to fund improvements after Ofwat discovered "excessive spills from storm overflows".
Anglian Water has been ordered by regulator Ofwat to pay £62.8m after an investigation found serious breaches in its management of sewage works, resulting in excessive spills from storm overflows. The company must invest £57m to improve wastewater flows and pay £5.8m towards community projects. In addition, Anglian's customers can expect their average annual household water bill to rise by £140 by 2030, reaching £631. The company has allocated £1bn to reduce spills by half over the next six years.
