Thu, 31 Jul 2025 Hotel tycoon reveals Heathrow expansion proposal

Arora Group says a shorter runway will avoid the cost and disruption of diverting the M25 motorway.
The Arora Group's plan includes a new terminal opening in two phases, with the first phase in 2036 and the second in 2040. The new runway could be operational by 2035. In contrast, Heathrow's current plan for expansion was expected to complete its runway for £14 billion but is now estimated to cost billions more. The government invited competing proposals for Heathrow's expansion in June and set a deadline of July 31. Arora Group claims it has the expertise and track record to deliver on-time and on-budget projects, including those around Heathrow airport. Heathrow Airport declined to comment on the proposal.
