Sun, 03 Aug 2025 Council opens food voucher scheme for summer

Kent County Council says that eligible residents will receive a one-off payment of £90 towards food.

* Kent County Council has launched a one-off payment of £90 in vouchers for eligible residents struggling with food costs this summer.
* Applications are open until 26 August and are served on a first-come, first-served basis.
* The funding comes from the Department for Work and Pensions and is administered by KCC's Financial Hardship team.
* Eligible families can use the £90 towards food shopping costs and have the option to choose between energy or food vouchers, or a combination of both.
* A winter support scheme will follow later in the year.
* Applicants are reminded that this is taxpayers' money and should be spent wisely on food and essential household items only.
