Sun, 03 Aug 2025 UK regional airports set to be sold to investment group

ICG is taking on the Devon hub, along with Bournemouth and Norwich airports, in a £200m deal.

* Exeter Airport, along with airports in Bournemouth and Norwich, is set to be sold in a £200m deal.
* Investment firm ICG has agreed to purchase the airports from Rigby Group.
* The sale is expected to be announced on Monday, after leading business officials in the South West were briefed about the deal.
* Exeter Airport opened in 1937 and has commercial flights to various UK and international destinations.
* The airport was used by fighter planes during World War Two and has since grown with new arrivals and departure buildings being built.
* Airlines operating from Exeter include Ryanair, KLM, Aer Lingus, and TUI.
* In 2024, the airport reported a profit of just over £1m for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic, with passenger numbers rising by 8%.
* Passenger numbers also increased in November, up 15,740 compared to the same period the previous year.
